Colza seeds of type F1 that have been produced in Iran have better productivity that those of Australian types.

(IANA) – “In the project of supplying Iran’s organic oil, 60 to 70 percent of country’s colza needs has been fulfilled by hybrid colza of type F1 and we were to import the seeds from Australia in the beginning,” said the managing director of the company “Caspian Bazr”.

“The private sector has made our country not to buy this type of seed from other countries,” said Saeed Fakhrian.

“The parent seeds of these hybrids are imported to the country every year,” he continued.

“The production of these seeds has been started since 2 years ago,” he said.

“In the farming year 1387 – 1388, about one thousand 600 hectares of farmlands have been cultivated with colza. It’s anticipated that one thousand 700 tons of products will be bought from the farmers of the provinces Khuzestan, Ilam and Hormozgan,” he affirmed.

“By now, the productivity of the farms of the provinces Hormozgan and Ilam has been one thousand 300 Kilograms per hectare, while this number is 800 Kilograms in Australia,” said Fakharian.

“After supplying one thousand 200 to one thousand 300 tons of seeds 10 to 12 million Dollars of monetary credits will be saved for Iran,” he continued.\
